New Information Revealed on 2019 HSA & HDHP Limits

Earlier this month, May 10th, 2018, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released the inflation-adjusted contribution limitations for calendar year 2019. This news in particular was in regards to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and High-Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs). Under the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, these limits are adjusted for inflation and released to the public every year by June 1st (with regards to the following year).

The changes are as follows:

2019 Annual HSA Contribution Limits

  • $3500 (up $50 from 2018)
    • Self-only HDHP coverage
  • $7000 (up $100 from 2018)
    • Family HDHP coverage

2019 Annual HDHP Minimum Deductibles

  • $1350 (no change from 2018)
    • Self-only coverage
  • $2700 (no change from 2018)
    • Family coverage

2019 HDHP Out-of-Pocket Limits: including deductibles, co-payments, and other; NOT including premiums

  • $6750 (up $100 from 2018)
    • Self-only coverage
  • $13500 (up $200 from 2018)
    • Family coverage
