New Student Loan Garnishments Schedule Released

New student loan garnishments are scheduled to be issued in October 2024. Prior orders are canceled under the Fresh Start Program. If an employee has a federal student loan, the employee will receive an administrative wage garnishment order instead of a court order.

California Fast Food Restaurant Minimum Wage Update

Effective April 1, 2024, covered fast food restaurants must pay employees a minimum wage of $20.00 per hour. Restaurants located within airports, hotels, event centers, theme parks, museums, and certain other locations are exempt from this requirement.

Montgomery County, Maryland to Increase Minimum Wage

Montgomery County to increase the minimum wage requirement effective July1, 2024 as follows:

  • $17.15 for Large Employers
  • $15.50 for Mid-Sized Employers
  • Remains $15.00 for Small Employer

Idaho Lowers State Unemployment Insurance Tax Rate Range for Employers

The state of Idaho has retroactively lowered the State Unemployment Insurance tax rate range for employers within the state. Total tax rates for 2024 range from 0.281% to 5.4%.
