Payroll: 10 Things You’ll Need from Each Employee for Payroll Processing

Payroll processing can sometimes seem daunting. 😱 Payday seems to pop-up and surprise every time. But if you start at the very foundation of what you need to process payroll, it will make your life a lot easier. 


  1. Completed job application
  2. W-4 (There is a new form for 2020)
  3. Application for state withholding certificates. (many states’ require an additional form to the w-4)
  4. I-9
  5. Bank information (if enrolling in direct deposit)
  6. Medical insurance forms if applicable
  7. Retirement plan documents if you are offering retirement and 401(k)
  8. Union contracts and other documentation (if applicable)
  9. Contracts, non-competes, intellectual property (if applicable)
  10. Signatures for employee handbook and policies
