How to Engage "A Players" when Looking for Talent

May 15, 2019 1:30:00 PM

It will come as a surprise to no one that, when recruiting, companies want to hire the best of the best to fill those roles. You, or your hiring managers, will have the ideal candidate in-mind when putting together the job description for the role you are hiring for. However, the qualifications of this ideal candidate tend to get lost in translation between explaining what kind of candidate you are looking for, writing the job req, and conducting interviews.

We’ve mentioned our recruitment analytics before, now we can put them to use in another way: the “Quality of Hire” tool.

This tool is interfaced within our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and allows higher-ups/management to specify exactly the type of applicant they are looking for to their team. Let’s run through how it works:

You’re looking for a new salesperson to replace John Smith, an employee who is quitting the company. So you post the job title in a Job Opening Request on the ATS alongside the employee you are replacing, and their most recent/lifetime performance review scores and job history. The point is simple, get someone as good as or better than the person you are replacing.

After defining those parameters, you continue with your expectations for the new hire. Goals, Skills and Competencies, and the Budget & Administration you are allotting for the role. Once you have those filled out, the job is posted to the ATS internally where all of your recruiters can access and review. Now, they have an exact guidelines towards hiring your ideal candidate.
